In 1993, a small group of people in Bisbee, Arizona saw the need to help unwanted and abandoned pets that the shelters struggled to get adopted. Those first fosters for Border Animal Rescue opened their homes, their hearts, and their wallets to take care of those animals and to help place them in their forever homes. Since incorporation in 1998, Border Animal Rescue has worked tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home animals and has developed a wonderful relationship with animal control and the other shelters of Cochise County. The work is not always easy, but it IS necessary. Our volunteers are passionate about helping these pets, and our community.

What we do:

The mission of Border Animal Rescue (BAR) is to reduce animal overpopulation through spay and neuter programs; promote the adoption of unwanted, homeless pets in Cochise County by caring for them in foster homes and providing medical care, if needed, until they are placed in permanent homes. To promote population control of free-roaming cats through a trap/neuter/return (TNR) program; while ensuring the health and humane treatment of all animals.

 

Trap/Neuter/Return Program (TNR):

BAR assists with population control of free-roaming neighborhood cats. Adult cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and returned to the area they came from. Young kittens are placed in foster homes, socialized, and once they've had their surgeries and medical needs addressed, adopted into loving homes.

 

Location:

We do not YET have a physical facility. All of our animals are fostered in the homes of loving volunteers until they are ready for adoption. Foster homes are located throughout Cochise County. Many more are needed. If you're interested in caring for cats OR dogs, PLEASE let us know.
